I recently purchased a IC-756 Pro and it seems to work great on cw
and rtty, not sure about SSB. I'm using my Heil Proset, and the
adapter without the cap. I've set the bass to -2db and the treble
to+5 db, as some suggested. I've tried both the narrow and mid
compression settings. I just don't seem to be getting out. I can only
get to about 75% on the power out meter, ALC and compression seem
fine. Using the monitor function, the audio sounds ok. Is 75% typical
to read on the meter? If I inject a tone, I can get 100%. In using the
radio, I just don't seem to be getting out like I did with my TS-850.
Just asking if this is typical with an Icom, as with my Kenwood, I
could get near full scale power on voice peaks.
