Bert, I have a 761 that had the same problem. The relays are available,
and Icom's REAL proud of them. I figger that I had nothing to lose by
trying to 'fix' it. The slightest 'tap' anywhere on the radio would
cause the sensitivity to drop like the att was switched in. Man, it was
annoying!!!
Yes, there is a lot of disassembly involved. Fortunately, Icom made all
the many connectors different, so there was no chance of mis-plugging
them.
After you get to the relay, snap the clear plastic cover off. I took a
small strip of business card stock which had been soaked with DeOxit 5.
The radio gets used daily (about 2 months since the 'fix') and the
problem has NOT returned.
This relay is used in a LOT of older Icoms and has always been a source
of problems.

Subject: [ICOM] RL13 problem in IC-765
Happy New Year all,
I think I have a problem with RL13 on the Tuner Unit relay board in a
765.
According to the service manual it looks like I have to remove the side
panel of the chassis and the whole tuner unit to access the relay. Is
this
the way to do it or are there any short cuts to get to the relay?
Thanks.
73 Bert, VE3OBU
