Serial numbers in a format 12345 are the early models of the MKIIG...
Serial numbers in a format 150XXXX are the later models with the newer
finals.

I don't think there were any serious issues with the 706 MK II. Now the MK
II G has some which may or may not be a big issue. Unless the situation has
changed, it is almost impossible to find finals for the first generation of
the "g" model. If you should happen to blow the finals, replacements are NOT
available. Icom did have some complete boards availabe but at a pretty stiff
price. The newer "g" model uses different finals and this isn't an issue.
Unfortunatelly there is not a "serial number" list that will tell you which
is which. The only way to tell for sure to actually look at the finals. The
newer version is a rd70HVF. The switch was quite a while back so anything in
the recent past would be a new version. Good Luck.
