The PROs did not have display issues, but they did have one issue that drove
me nuts: strong, nearby signals -- outside the filter passband but inside
the AGC loop -- would cause voltage spikes on the 5- volt rail that would
appear (in CW) as pops in the RX audio or (in SSB) as a rumble.
Other than that, the 756 PRO was a good radio. But for a little extra
scratch, a PRO II may be the better buy. Design changes solved the AGC
issue. And then further changes elevated the PRO III to a new level
altogether.
