[ICOM] IC756pro 60m operation

Hi Dave,

Changing the firmware is not feasible. The 756Pro is a long-discontinued
product, and Icom will not re-visit it. The regional differences are
determined by the diode-matrix configuration.

The "general transmit" mod is a reasonable way of activating 7.1...7.2 MHz.

Cheers for now, 73, season's greetings.

Many thanks to all respondents to my original query, for their input
especially Larry and Adam for bringing this problem to light.

I am disappointed but not so disappointed as I would have been to have
damaged this rig!
The 756pro's built-in Voice Recorder (transmit) capability would have been a
godsend here on 60m for late night SSB operation on that band without
disturbing the household.

I may do the "general transmit" mod just to have access to the new Region 1
40m band extension 7100-7200kHz although I do wonder if this could be
achieved better by some firmwear changes such as maybe a PROM change or
whatever dictates the difference in transmit coverage between Region 1 or
Region 2 supplied rigs?

73 all and have a nice Xmas
Dave
