It's been said that he table height should be about
28" high, and equipment be a comfortable arm's
length away.  The important thing is to have the
front of the equipment tilted back 10 or 20 degrees
so that it faces the operator's eyes.  This spacing
can be varied to compensate for any reflections at
the operating location.   There's a lot written on
the subject, but worse case is the way you had it.
OSHA has a few words, I think.  Carpal Syndrome
can be found in Google.  TRIVIA:  Sometimes the
main squeeze here comes up behind and gently
rubs my shoulders.   Does wonders for DX.
