We were required to stand on a "static mat", and/or
wear a wrist strap which was connected to ground,
or the item under test, through a high resistance.
Me, I always keep one hand on the item's chassis, a
small brush in the other, and the house vacuum cleaner
snout under my arm. Try to do all this were there is
high humidity, like a Sears humidifier in the room. I've
noticed that the Positive wires collect more dust if
they're a couple of hundred Volts and up. Back when
I did in-home TV repair, (tubes then), the Housewife
would often be appalled at how filthy the inside of a
TV could get. Then she'd run for a damp cloth.
I'd have to clean the whole TV to her approval.
TRIVIA.
