[ICOM] 706 MK II

My loyal pal ( IC-706 MK II ) has developed a malady where it will not "wake 
up" when the power button is pushed.  This is whether the control head is 
connected right to the base unit or to the base unit via the extension 
cable.

If I make and break one of the power wires while the power supply is on, I 
can hear a weak, momentary "tick" from the current limiting power supply and 
see a very slight deflection of the ammeter.  However, pushing the "power" 
button on the control head has no effect--no reaction or "tick" from the 
supply and the display stays dark.

Any suggestions?
