Hi Glen,
The PRO series of radios uses IF DSP. AF DSP is a small part of the radio
architecture and is defeatable. I suspect the P II you were using was
maladjusted, because with the NR off, I find it quieter and easier to listen
to than non-DSP radios by far. With too much NR, the radio does become very
unlistenable.
After using a PRO and then a PRO III, I don't think I could go back.

765 and 751a will remain as my main radios. My ears can't take audio DSP for
more than an hour.
I can barely use the ProII for that very reason.
Glen

Hi John,
<< Actually it appears the PRO3 might be the one to go...>>
The IC-756Pro3 was discontinued at the end of January 2009. I do not think
we will see a reincarnation of the IC-751A; any new HF radio will be IF-DSP.
Cheers for now, 73,
Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ
