Hmm...I once knew a ham who ran the 1 kW exciter on 20m and 15m into the
site's huge LPDA at the commercial Fixed station where he worked. The 100 kW
HPA was off-line (honest!)

I think that some would also argue that 500 watts isn't "serious
contesting"!
