[ICOM] 761 help

Gee, a big "THANK YOU!!" to all who responded! Several folks directed 
me to Icom's "Knowledge Base", which describes the exact problem. I 
have used Icoms resources MANY times in the past, but I just never 
noticed this note. Today, I took the top off the old girl and removed 
the Tuner Unit 'Preset' Board. RL1 resides there. Using extreme care 
(!!) I cleaned the contacts of this relay which I cannot say made any 
difference, since the problem is SO intermittent.
Icom said to check Relay RL513 on the Tuner Unit itself. I am sure this 
is the source of my 'problem'. This relay switches when you go from 
'att' to 'normal' on the 'pre amp / attn' switch.
I have concluded it's NOT the switch itself, since in normal operation 
(no pre or att), it's not doing anything. The preamp is energized by 
switching diodes, but the att is activated by RL513.

A bit of confusion resulted when looking at the pictorial of the Tuner 
Unit relay board. Icom marks it as RL13. Then, a short time later, I 
saw a very small note that said to add '500' to the parts 
designation!!! ha ha
