Ron: While I don't own a 761, your description of the symptom could very well describe a conduction issue involving connections in the receive path. As you so ably described, any change or pressure caused by vibration or expansion due to heat resolves the issue. One way to possibly narrow the source or area causing the problem is to use a hair dryer and a chemical freeze spray to try and induce the failure with cooling then heat in conjunction with the schematic to localize the root source. It usually takes calm and logical troubleshooting skills to resolve this kind of intermittency, but with patience it can be done. Good luck, Larry K4LXV
