A Q-tip is WAY too big. If there is a photo supply shop near you, get a 
000 or smaller spotting brush. Use it to put a dot of color in the 
scratch. Do not use a stroke. Keep dotting until it is filled in. Use a 
magnifying glass. Furniture retouchers use the same technique. Art 
supply houses may have a similar sized brush.
