[ICOM] IC-781 Phase Noise Problem

Last night I heard a station with terrible phase noise and it turned
out he was using a 781.  I know these have a generally good reputation
for phase noise so there must be something wrong with this particular
unit.  Does anyone here have any suggestions?  I did Google and found
one report of phase noise being cured by replacing all the varactors
in the oscillators.

Any other suggestions?
