[ICOM] IC-765

I just acquired a 3900 S/N IC-765 as a second radio.  So far it's 
working well and I'm enjoying it.  There are a couple of small issues, 
that I can't find any reason for, that perhaps someone on the list can 
shed some light on:

Approximately 60% of the time when I power on the radio the audio is 
"muted".  It's like the T/R relay is in the mute position.  If I punch 
the 14 MHz button on the keypad and then go back to the original band, 
audio is back to normal.

The other oddity is the display which seems to be "dimmed" a bit.  Each 
display section has segments with a "bright" portion and a "dim" 
portion and comparing it to a friends radio, mine display is visibly 
dimmer on both the white and red display elements.  With no reference 
to display dimming in either the owners manual or the tech service 
manual, I'm not sure what I have.
