The SB-1000 and the AL 80 are essentially the same amp which utilize a 12 volt key  line. The IC 751  used a different keying relay than do the 746's and 756 Icoms. To not use a keying buffer with an amplifier with a swinging armature relay is not an informed and enlightened idea to say the least. There is information on Adam's web page which provides information  which one can utilize to fabricate a solid state buffer which uses  three Radio Shack parts that cost less than $10 total.
