That was exactly the "official" reason given in 2005. Damn history... :)

Well, we can blame Icom a little bit. For price fixing for instance. There's
hardly any competition between dealers for the same products. Same goes for
Yaesu and Kenwood of course.

I'll refrain from going into what contributed to the value of the dollar
what it is today. Ya'll know what to do in November. ;-)
