I guess that I don't understand why a particular radio has to appeal to
anyone other than the target market. If you don't want a "rugged" radio, so
what? Let the people that want one buy it. Icom's product line is broad in
both price and sophistication.

It would be nice if Icom realized that some of us branch out from this part
of the hobby to other areas. Not all of us want or need a radio ""rugged"
enough for emergency comms.
