[ICOM] IC7800

Hi
I have had my 7800 just over 1 year now and the 4th problem has arisen. If
you own a 7800 my advice is to keep the shipping boxes handy!!!

Problems so far:
1. Screen went blank
2. RIT malfunctioned
3. Entire power supply had to be replaced after loud BANG!!
All required sending off for repair.

Now is problem #4. My hope is that maybe there is a solution without sending
it back for the 4th time.

Has anyone encountered this problem?

If I toggle to preamp #2, the signal will "attenuate" as if the preamp is
off. (Actually "less signal" than in off position)

If I go to "Split" mode, then preamp #2 appears to work. Split does not even
have to be on the same band to bring up the signal.... just going to split
brings #2 alive.

Any help? Sure don't want to send it away for the 4th time if possible.
