Sorry to say Ed, But this is a common problem and Rig will have to in the 
shop to be fixed. That is unless you are equipped for SMD work.

The backlight has failed and the SET commands CONTRAST & BACKLIGHT did not
revive the display backlight.

I have not yet tried a CPU reset. Any suggestion will be appreciated.
