Hi all.
I have found a design error in the IC-2200H. The attenuator that is
activated by turning the squelsh controll to 12 a clock or more, do not work
during scanning. The attenuator is used to improve receiver preformance when
strong signals is present. To notice the error select a QRG where a weak
station is present. Increase the squelch until the station disapear. The
squelsh setting must be 2 o clock or more when the signal disapere,
otherwise the error can not be detected. This is important. Then start the
scanning. Now the scanning will stop momentarily each time it pass the QRG
with the weak signal, and then continue the scan.
I have been in contact with my Icom supplier and they have tested this in
their workshop and they confirm the problem. They have also contacted Japan
that have tried to come up with a software mod, but in the end it did not
work. The reply from Japan now is "will be included in next model".
My question is now, have anyone noted the same problem with any other Icom
that have a attenuator incoperated in the squelch control? I am especially
interested to know about the IC-2820 and IC-746PRO.
Also I would like to know if anyone know of a working mod for the IC-2200H?
