Thanks for all of the really helpful comments about this issue both on  
and off the list.  I should have mentioned that I asked the buyer many  
questions about his antenna system, settings, etc., but he chose only  
to send an angry reply back without providing the information.  I  
should also clarify that I have not offered to take the radio back nor  
have I offered to pay for any repairs.  I simply asked him to send me  
the Icom repair invoice/work order so I could see what Icom has to say  
about it.  As many of you pointed out, the purchaser may have damaged  
the radio himself or may simply not understand what he is doing, or  
both.
