Allan,
This is not odd at all.
In the LSB mode, you are running suppressed carrier (No Output) and only get
power output when MMTTY applies audio tones. (AFSK) to your radio audio
input.
Whereas in the RTTY mode the radio is operating in Frequency Shift Keying.
So it has full power output and the carrier is shifter by 170 hz as you
apply the RTTY data to the FSK keying circuit. Think of FSK being a CW
signal with the frequency shifting about.
If you have all the jumpers in the right place, you should get power out
with the radio in LSB mode and audio output from the MMTTY program.
until you get every thing working and fully understand RTTY operation, I
would suggest you operate in LSB mode and setup MMTTY to run AFSK. Be sure
you have "Sound" selected in the "TX port" under "MMTTY Setup | MISC tab.
