I am not aware of any way to trick it. Don't think the factory ever 
programmed the capability for 1KHz tuning steps into the cpu. It should 
do 12.5 KHz but I will need to download the manual to actually you how 
to do that. I would suspect its available in the set mode. Doubt if it 
will do anything other that 5 and 12.5 KHz tuning steps.
