[ICOM] IC706MKII vs MKIIG question

Hi all, 

I had an IC-706MKIIG with the front panel unfortunately lost.
I just acquired an MKII (not G) front panel, and made a test with the
radio. It works OK, as far as I could test, except that it is not able
to go to 430MHz. This particular problem doesn't bother me, as I don't
use this band, and will not do so in near future.
So, the question is, could I expect any other problems and
misoperation?
Generally, this will be a backup and travel radio, except for 6m band,
where this will be the primary one.
If someone had similar experience, it will be nice to share his
observations.
