I offer the comment that the SWR meter
circuitry in the ProIII, like 99.9 per
cent of all SWR meters you'll encounter,
depend upon the input and output
impedance characterists actually being
what they were designed to be.  Not only
must the Antenna side be 50 Ohms or
whatever, but the input side must match
the PA circuitry.  If perchance something
in the PA circuitry sprung a leak and it's
impedance characteristics no longer match
the SWR meter input circuitry, the SWR
meter could read about any thing.
No, ProIII's aren't supposed to act like
the one you have.  Like the man said,
check the things that plug in, or have
screws to hold them in.
