The most effective protection includes a grounded feedline disconnect panel on the shack wall and you ONLY CONNECT when actually operating. All antennas disconnected from the rigs/atus etc except when needed. BTW don't operate during storms.

Don't forget to place a coax choke at the top and bottom of the tower. I
usually wind about 5 turns around a 3lb coffee can for the size and tie them
together with 3-4 nylon ties. Lightening does not like to go around corners..
It only adds a few feet to the coax length.
