[ICOM] IC-2KL help needed

Cliff, I am not familiar with the IC-2KL amplifier power supply, but hopefully it will not be too hard to diagnose the problem. First. you should determine which relay is closing. If indeed it is closing to restore full power to the supply, then you need to determine why it is opening again.Does this relay contain latching contacts that maintain the transformer primary input voltage? What should happen to make this relay stay closed in the first place? Also is there a thermal component in this puzzle. Take a look at your schematic to determine this. If so, is this circuit being activated after the relay opens etc? If you are having these problems with no current being drawn from the power supply at all, then I doubt the filter caps are the cause of this problem. If you have a shorted transistor, than all bets are off. Good luck, Larry K4LXV
