Another suggestion for making your own boom mike. Obtain any inexpensive cone shaped hand  mike, and replace the element in it with a Radio Shack PN 270-090 element for about $3. next obtain a cheap work bench adjustable arm lamp. Remove the lamp and cord from the lamp and install the modified mic, and use that. I can see no more than about $30 total cost, less possibly. Larry K4LXV.
