I just had a failure in the tuner of my IC-775DSP.  It was a faulty stepper
motor, one of two small motors that drive two variable capacitors.  I don't
know if your tuner is the same design, but I suspect that it is.  Got a
replacement motor from Icom for $35 and replaced it myself.

	You may have a sticky relay (which selects coil taps). Only way to
go 
is to desolder and checking them one at a time.
