[ICOM] Icom IC-756ProIII or TS-950SDX

Thanks for your answer John, I use the Icom rigs in the manner you
described, and it is very effective. As far as the FT1000MP is concerned,
not being an engineer type I thought that it did in fact have two receivers
as the 1000 does and because there are two knobs I thought it did as well
and was bragging about it one day on the air when a ham who services Yaesu
stuff came on the frequency and told me I was full of ..... well you know
what. I know there are no filters selectable or anything like that, but I
thought it had two independent receivers. The tech told me as best as I can
remember is that there is only one receiver but they split it somehow and it
appears as the main and sub receiver but really just one. So that is what I
have been thinking. I sold it to get my Icom rigs and I do not find that I
need two receivers to work all the DX I want especially with duel watch. I
am not a contester so maybe two receivers are beneficial in that mode, but I
am #1 on the ARRL Honor Roll and have worked them all and  like I said
before see know reason to have 2 receivers. Thanks again John. es 73 OZ

The FT100MP does have 2 receivers and the QST review
does confirm this. It is limited somewhat in that it
only has 1 set of bandpass filters so the two
receivers need to be on adjacent bands or so, but you
can put 1 on 15m and the other on 20m and they will
both receive ok.

The 756/756PRO/756PROII do only have 1 receiver but
they do dual receive acceptable for split frequency
pileups in that you can listen to two different
frequencies at the same time. They do have to both be
in the same mode and bandwidth, but you are still
listening to two different frequencies so dual
reception is taking place.
