[ICOM] Icom IC-756ProIII or TS-950SDX

Sorry John but the 756,756Pro,ProII and FT1000MP are NOT dual receive in
that they only have ONE receiver. They do have two VFO's but not two
receivers. Can't comment on the 950SDX never had one. 73 OZ

I have owned several dual receive radios in the past
(Icom 756/756PRO/756PROII/FT1000MP/TS950SDX) and I
always found them most useful for DXing. Never really
tried to do SO2R in a contest with them, but they make
busting a split frequency pileup much easier.  You put
one receiver on the DX stations frequency to hear when
he comes back to someone, and put the other receiver
on the DXs listening frequency. You can then hear
exactly when it is clear to call, or find a clear
spot, or find the station he is working to be on that
frequency for the next round of calls. You can do this
with a regular 2 VFO radio, but it is much easier to
do it with dual receive than having to switch back and
forth between VFOs.
