One other difference between the 756PRO series and the
746PRO (and the originals of both lines) that might
not be apparent at first is in your choices of
sensitivity.  For the 746 line, you have 3 basic
choices:

1. Preamps on 
2. Preamps off
3. Attenuator on

The attenuator is a 20db one which is too severe in
many cases.

For the 756 series, you get a 3 step attenuator-6db,
12db, and 18db. Furthermore, you can have the preamp
on and the attenuator on at the same time, so you get
about 20 different total choices in sensitivity.  This
can make a big difference at times.  It is one think
that I like in my Yaesu FT920 over the 746.
