Hi John,
Please look over my IC-7700 page; note the huge inductors in the front-end
BPF group. There is also a link to my friend Lidio I0GEJ's IC-7000 page.

The PA uses a pair of MRF150's, and is rated at 200W output.
Cheers for now, 73,
Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ

The more I look at the IC-7700's features, the more I think it may be the
logical successor to my trustworthy JRC JST-245. The latter is, of course,
well known for its quality construction and performance.
It has a built-in PS and gives 150 W out with no effort.
It looks like the quality level will be comparable (hence the projected
sticker price) and of course the performance will be well beyond the 1994
all-analog 245's, with the scope being a major enhancement. The cost will be
about double the JST-245 (1995 $ vs 2007 $), less when considering inflation
effects.
I'm also impressed that Icom is taking its own sweet time in getting the new
transceiver to market, ignoring competitors' rollouts. Odds are it will
debut free of defects as a result and work as advertised.

John, W3ULS
