NO- No no no no..... the ONLY thing a 735 saves with the
battery is the MEMORIES!!!!!!
Trust me o this - it will work fine even with the battery
completely removed. You will just need to put the
MEMORIES (12) back in it if you scan or something.
If you do not need the memory feature - you do not need
a battery in the radio at all. It will work fine!
The 735 has a fine receiver. I have never sat it side-by-side
with a 706, so I cannot say. But I was never disappointed with
my 735 the whole time I used it.
