[ICOM] Opinion on 735 rig

I had one for years. It replaced a 730 that I sold when we needed $$$. It
was a battle-hardened veteran of Gulf War-1, and a number of operations
outside the country. It served with distinction in several countries
passing MARS traffic for the soldiers deployed with me. The one failure it
had was during an Iraqi sand storm - one of the diodes in the filter pack
died and caused sensitivity problems.

I used it with an AH-2 tuner, PS-55 supply, and any number of configurations
of wire antennas including wire beams.

After over 10 years of active service, I retired that radio to the shelf
when I retired from the army. It sat for 5 years before I sold it.

Had I the need, I would get one again. It was always a good rig, although
the 706 is far more deployable today.

HTH.
