[ICOM] 751A Plastic Trimmer Capacitors

Good Morning All,

Can anyone who has ever had to replace the VCO plastic trimmers in their 751A, please tell me just how, exactly, the problem manifests itself in terms of transceiver operation...?

Does it affect transmitting only...? Receiving only...? Both...?

Also, is the issue limited to a specific band, or is all of the range normally covered by the transceiver affected...?

I'm beginning to wonder if the issue here with mine of "no transmit" might be directly related to these capacitors, which I understand are notorious for expiring after awhile (my 751A was purchased new some 18 years ago, or so --- it resides in the basement).

Lastly, is there a definative web site that specifically addresses just this one problem with these transceivers...?
