Power fix ??? Does this also apply to the 746 original ? What is/was the
problem/symptom that is "fixed" ?

Carl,
I highly recommend NOT tweaking the power output. Without the proper test
equipment you will certainly screw up the linearity (quality) of your TX
signal! Get the second tube. :-)

Subject: RE: [ICOM] ] Icom 756 PRO III output power
Thanks to everyone who replied to my email and my request for MORE POWER
out of the PRO III.
I played around with the rig last night and found that I was guilty of
checking the RTTY signal into the Bird 43P which was set to read PEP. When
I removed the PEP I was able to see a full 100w...well maybe 98 or so. I
also had the opportunity to replace the 9V batteries in the Bird.
The advice I received on bumping the power via the technical manual will
definitely be researched...thanks to Blair K3YD for that one!
Maybe I should just leave the PRO III alone and put a second 3CX1200 in
the Henry...that would solve my QRO issue.
Again, thanks for all of your help.
Carl

Carl this subject has been beating to death here. You will get all
kinds of comments, but the fact is that my Pro3 does not drive my Drake
L-7 like the TS-850S or even the IC-706MK2G.
I think you need to stand on one foot and wait until a blue moon or
something like that to get full output.

researched the archives and found quite a few subjects relating to low
output power from 746 and 756 owners. I am running a PRO III into a 5
element Telrex monobander with FLAT vswr. I cant get any where near 100w
out of this rig into the yagi or even into a bird dummy load. I have a
Diamond SWR meter and a Bird 43 with both measuring to within a few watts of
each other....about 85-88w on 14.200.

NOT running the Icom PS but rather I am using a 35amp Astron PS so
additional current draw would not be a concern.
