Hi John,
You should be able to pull the tuning knob off its shaft by grasping it
firmly and pulling straight.
The exploded view on p. 6-2 of the service manual does not show any
set-screws.
Cheers for now, 73,

Subject: [ICOM] How to remove the tuning knob on ProIII?
Hello all,
How does the tuning knob on a 756ProIII come off? Does it just pull
straight off, or does the rubber ring slide off to reveal setscrews?
I want to remove it because the tension, or drag, is still too high even
with the brake adjustment screw turned as loose as it will go. According to
the service manual there's a "brake pad" (felt washer?) in there. Maybe I
can modify it or remove it to make the knob spin more freely.

John, W1JA
