Guess it is the old story, Mike: What's one man's gold is another's garbage.
I've had this 761 for 20 years. For the most part, it has done yeoman's
service. But I have had three major problems with the p/s over the years
and while I suppose that's pretty good, that's the only area of this radio
in which I've seen any "corrosion".
In fact, for what I've put it through, it owes me nothing. I've probably
not spent more than $300 (Canadian) in those 20 years for maintenance, so I
guess it has been exceptional value for the money I spent on it back in
1987. And I still love it to death.

That is an interesting comment.
I have three of these supplies. I re-capped one - the other two have been
working almost continuously without failure. Not so much as a blown fuse.
Only taken off the air for thunderstorms and shipping overseas etc when I
was in the army.
So how the heck is THAT a POOR DESIGN?
I wish a lot of the things I own had "POOR DESIGN" problems like this.
