A reflection on the DW discussions. It seems that it is common that when a
new radio is released, there is considered to always be a feature from the
next level radio missing. On the other hand I think I saw somwhere that the
7700 is intended for the 765 and 775- owners. In that case there could be an
idea to include the features of those radios.
Another interesting thing about DW is, that so many has bee complaining
about that ICOM's DW that has one channel each for each ear. Of course the
demand top receiver preformace, but on the other hand they will accept a sub
receiver with performance and design similar to a entry level radio.
On the picture of the 7700 I notice that there is a knob to adjust the
CW-pitch. That adjustment is sometime in a meny or on the front of the
radio. I choose the pitch to my personal liking. 440Hz fits my ears just
perfect. As I use the same ears all the time I see no reason to adjust the
pitch. Also it is good to know the exact pitch if one use external LF
filters or want to use the PC to analyse the signals as I easily can find
the correct QRG. I do not know if it is possible to see what pitch is chosen
on the display, but if not, it's not so good. Wonder if ICOM had some left
over space or if there is a idea behind putting the the pitch control on the
front?
