[ICOM] 756 pro II power, meter light problem

Hello group,

I have this 756proII that has its S meter backlight
that will never go OFF. Lights up even after power
down. The LCD Backlight too has the same problem,
always lit up even after power down except that it is
OFF before the first power-up after connecting the
power supply cable. Once the radio is powered on, even
the LCD back light refuses to go OFF when the radio is
powered OFF. The rest of the radio does OFF though. 

That is hardly the problem. The radio also stopped
transmitting - Meter in ALC mode shows full
deflection, and no Po. 

Receive is perfectly fine. 

This just began one fine day, after a successful
operation on the previous day.. 

Has anyone come across this behaviour? Any suggestions
anyone?
