Hi Alex,
My understanding is that the Pro3 will remain in the line-up for the
foreseeable future.
The amateur contest sector is a relatively small part of Icom's total
market.

I guess they're following the path of the FT-9K series as they have a
"contest" version of their top dog rig at around that price. Yaesu then
dropped the 847 and the Mark V and introduced the FT-2K. I wouldn't be
surprised if Icom would do the same and drop the 746Pro and the PIII from
their line and introduce a IC-7500 (7560? :) ).
I think I'll pass on this one.
