[ICOM] Possible power supply

The "ST. Louis Switcher" was designed and built by Matt Kastigar W0XEU and
published. I too think it was in the QST magazine a few years ago. I
suspect one could search for the article on the ARRL website. The PC supply
can have it's main current draw diverted to 12 Volts so you get the main
current there so you get considerably MORE than specified for the 12 Volt
normally supplied by the supply as is. The regulation as I remember the
article is done from the 5 volt sampling (which follows along) and must have
a token load built into the conversion. It works.

Interesting. I've been using a PC supply from the
early 90s for a 5v source for many years now.
Maybe I should stop - although my experience has been good.
I seem to remember an article in QST (I think) describing how to do it.
