A couple of years ago I purchased an IC-718 for CW and digital mode QRP
work. I was so impressed with it's performance that I bought a second one. I
have a website with a review of the rig at http://www.kn4lf.com/kn4lf51.htm

Subject: [ICOM718] Re: Icom 718 receiver
Hi John,
The receiver of IC718 performs very well though it is
only an entry level rig. I did an A/B comparision with
my IC7800. It was not that far out.
IC718 evolves from the commercial version IC78 which
is a marine radio, For marine radio, performance in 2
- 6 Mhz which is the marine band has to be very good.
Therefore, the performance of IC718 in the low bands
is exceptionally good. This information has been
confirmed with ICOM JA.
