[ICOM] Radio Shack 20-049 Programming Cable

Jim,
Your schematic is a bit odd. Did you actually cut open your cable to come up with the
conductor colors and the shield connection? Connecting the shield to pin 2 (data
receive) of the serial connector is very unusual. Usually the shield would be
connected to pin 5 (ground). I rung out mine without cutting the molded cable open and
found that the cable appears to be straight through with only data transmit (serial
pin 3) passing all the way through to the phone plug along with serial pin 5 (ground).
As shown in your drawing there appear to be no flow control jumpers on the serial
side. I don't see how this could be used for any Icom application at this time.
