[ICOM] 2725 DISPLAY

Hi,
Yes I agree with the contact cleaning. One thing though, clean the pcb contacts with isopropyl alcohol but would only use a dry cloth on the siliconised rubber contacts. Have found in the past that the isopropyl will remove some of the carbon deposit as well, reducing the conductivity of the strip. LCD contacts don't seem to mind the isopropyl. That rubber bit is bits of carbonised rubber sandwiched amongst non conducting silicone rubber.
Yes it is quite delicate. Have had to do it several times on my Fluke 87.
Cheers,

I have had a problem like that in a few older IC-901As, and some FLUKE DMMs
also.
The cure seems to be cleaning the LCD display contact points.
The LCD display (in my case) rests on a rubber contact strip. The rubber
contact strip rests on the circuit board contacts. Carefully dis-assemble
it all, clean it with alcohol, and carefully re-assemble it all.
It the rubber is stuck, DO NOT STRETCH IT by pulling on it. Gently roll it
off sideways.
THANKS TO SCOTT MALCOLM of Malcolm Technical Support (mts at trip.net) for
suggesting the repairs and technique to me several months ago.
Good luck.
