George: More could be determined, if you first ran a few tests. Connect your rig through a peak indicating wattmeter to a dummy load, and key it in ssb with the mike gain turned to zero, and see if any output is indicated on the peak indicator. It may very well be that there is none. If no indicated output, that is a clue. I have seen 746 Pros generate noise output or pickup whine from the internal cooling fan when in ssb mode. This was noticeable with low output level mikes requiring high audio gain settings. With high output mikes such as electret mikes, requiring lower mike gain settings, it was not noticeable at all.
