[ICOM] 706 help needed

IC-706 Mark 2 problem:
Symptoms
Sudenly stopped the variable RF output function.  And, the RF power out 
meter now shows nothing , but RF is being output at about 150 watts.

Happened
when I had it hooked correctly to an IC-2KL that worked with it before 
moving the whole set up to a new desk.  I keyed down with the menu allowing 
me to adjust RF power out to 50 watts.  Worked ok but 2KL went to fault for 
unknown reason.  Reset 2kl and keyed CW on 706 again.  This time, the 2kl 
faulted off and the 706 RF power output meter stopped showing anything.  The 
meter will show ALC and small SWR, but no PO.
Also, at the same time, the 706 now (off the amplifier) will only output 
about 5 watts and with slight turn of knob goes to full output with no 
gradient of po allowed.  AND, the RF out is now about 180 watts on 20m and 
at least 130 watts out on all other bands.  (Earlier it was only full 100 
watts on all bands).

What happened?  and how can I fix it???
