Well, I for one do not. I have never lost an RF power device in any of the
solid-state HF radios I have owned - going back to 1989.

In the 1960's, I was designing solid-state HF PA's (2 - 16 MHz, 25W and
100W) at Racal. Once we got the protective circuits tamed, we did not lose
any RF power devices there either.
